About My Travel Blogs
Because of some pretty amazing people at Emory & Henry College, I have had a couple opportunities to travel abroad while in school. My first trip out of the country was a ten-day trip to Trinidad and Tobago with Habitat for Humanity and Global Villages in May 2015. Looking back on that experience, I know there was no way I could have blogged about it, but I wish I had kept a better travel journal than I did. Realizing that early on was key to my next experience abroad.
"Casey in Cardiff" is not my first travel blog. My first was "Casey in Copey." I was selected for a service learning course with a study abroad component that I took in the spring of 2016, preparing me for a month-long education exchange in Copey, Costa Rica the summer following. Keeping a travel journal of some kind was a requirement for the course, as was creating an ePortfolio. I decided to make a travel blog that could count for both, thus "Casey in Copey" was born.
Knowing I would be leaving the country again that fall, shortly after returning from Costa Rica, I decided to continue my travel blogging, not only to keep my family and friends up-to-date on what I'm doing and where I'm doing it, but as a way to reflect on and remember each of my experiences abroad. "Casey in Cardiff" is only a tool to push me to reflect on my semester abroad and encourage discussion among my peers.
So PLEASE leave me comments. Contact me if you have questions. Give me suggestions of places to go, people to meet, things to see, food to eat, and anything else your heart desires! I am new to this whole "world traveler" thing and want all the advice I can get!
